For this project, I created branding materials for The Omerta Club, an independent publishing group and coffee roaster based in Brooklyn, NY. The brand centers itself around contemporary photography and small-run publications, and that same philosophy extends into its small-batch, single-origin and limited-release coffees. My goal was to develop a design system that reflects this fusion of craft publishing and artisanal coffee culture, while maintaining a consistent aesthetic.I began the process by creating a mind map to explore initial ideas about the brand’s identity. This included themes inspired by editorial design, minimal packaging, photographic motifs, and bold, street-art based typography that could visually represent the brand’s Brooklyn roots and artistic focus. The mind map helped me establish a direction for the tone and style of the branding, and guided the development of multiple thumbnail sketches for the logotype. These sketches allowed me to experiment with type-driven marks, layout structures, and potential logo variations before choosing a final direction.Once I refined the chosen design, I developed a digital logotype and moved into producing collateral materials. This included designing a business card that reflected the brand’s visual identity, as well as a coffee catalog that showcased products in a cohesive and readable format. Throughout this stage, I continued referencing my mood board and concept notes to ensure consistency in typography, spacing, layout rhythm, and overall brand voice. I created multiple drafts of these pieces and participated in critique sessions with peers, adjusting hierarchy, alignment and formatting based on feedback. These refinements helped strengthen both clarity and visual cohesion across all materials, ensuring that each piece felt like part of the same brand family while still serving its individual purpose. The final deliverables included a digital logotype, a completed business card design and a completed fold-out coffee catalog. Together, these pieces create a unified brand system that reflects The Omerta Club’s values and aesthetic, balancing artisanal craft with a contemporary, editorial-inspired visual tone.
